Question: What is the main purpose of a heated towel rack?
Answer: The main purpose of a heated towel rack is to heat towels. It does eliminate humidity in the bathroom.
Question: What temperature do they operate at?
Answer: Most hydronic towel warmers operate at various temperatures, between 155F and 230F. Our electric models consist of either dry element or oil-filled element and the temperature are based on the electrical current.
Question: Is the bathroom the only room that a towel warmer can be used?
Answer: Generally, people heat towels in the bathroom or the kitchen.
Question: How should you place a towel on a towel warmer/rail?
Answer: The most efficient way to place a towel over a towel warmer is to fold your towel in half lengthwise, and then fold it in halfway. The more insulating layers help the towel absorb and keep the heat in. We suggest that the towel covers at least three to four horizontal bars.
Question: Is there a difference between a liquid filled towel warmer and one that is heated by a wire cable?
Answer: The main difference between a liquid-filled towel warmer and one that is heated by a wire cable is that the liquid-filled one retains the heat and continuously emits heat for a certain period of time, even after its switched off. The wired one, on the other hand, cools down instantaneously. Also, a hydronic towel warmer only turns on when your hot water system is on.
Question: How long should I leave the unit on to dry the towel?
Answer: For an electric towel warmer, you can leave the unit on for an extended period of time without any detrimental effect. If for some reason the towel warmer overheats, there is an internal safety cutout that will shut off the unit. It is convenient to hook the towel warmer up to a timer that controls the on/off switch. For a hydronic towel warmer, the towel warmer will heat (come on) only when the hot water system is on.
Question: Can a towel warmer be installed on any surface?
Answer: A towel warmer can be installed on any surface as long as it is in accordance with the rules and regulations (i.e. it cannot be installed in a shower).
Question: What is the difference between an electric unit and a hydronic unit?
Answer: An electric towel warmer is heated by electricity that has an on/off switch that can be controlled by the user. A hydronic towel warmer is installed on a central hot water heating system and is controlled the by the thermostat controlling the system (these towel warmers cannot be turned on or off on demand).
Question: What if the towel warmer is too cold/hot?
Answer: Towel warmers do not have a temperature control and are either “on” or “off”. The hydronic towel warmer depends on the temperature of the general heating system.
